Meet Alannah Aiken.
Let me introduce myself.
I'm Alannah Aiken, your new ADHD coach from Australia. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2022 and I am here on a mission to support people with ADHD to find their new normal, and turn the chaos into clarity. In this space, I wear the hat of a coach, mentor and educator, helping individuals with ADHD to understand, support and embrace their ADHD and their unique brains, energy and capacity. Together, let's rewrite the narrative and learn to ditch the shame that can come from a life of undiagnosed ADHD.
This is a space where you will feel seen, heard and understood. I am here to empower you to move forward with ADHD friendly strategies that work for you, as well as learning a whole lot of self compassion, grace and acceptance.
The background.
I embarked on my ADHD journey when I was diagnosed in 2022 - a revelation that brought clarity to a lifetime of challenges. In the lead up to my diagnosis, everything seemed like an uphill battle. Questions flooded my mind:
Why the constant struggle to keep track of my belongings?
Why am I always late and a hot mess express?
Why the constant forgetfulness?
The emotional rollercoaster, the pervasive feeling that everything was just insurmountably hard, and the persistent lack of focus left me searching for answers.
Yet, rewind the clock, and my life showed little resemblance to the empowered present. Before diagnosis, chronic overwhelm defined my existence, culminating in a burnout episode in 2021 that prompted me to step away from a teaching career. Misdiagnosed throughout my 20s with depression and anxiety, I now recognise these as byproducts of the undiagnosed ADHD, casting a shadow on a significant chapter of my life.
Post-diagnosis, a transformative chapter began. Over the following years, I delved into a comprehensive exploration of ADHD management. Drawing wisdom from ADHD coaches, mentors, kinesiologists, nutritionists, naturopaths, and various practitioners, I embraced a holistic approach to navigate the intricacies of ADHD. Motivated by a personal commitment to self-discovery, I underwent training to become an ADHD coach.
My aim - To empower you to understand how to embrace and navigate the multifaceted layers of ADHD and the chaos it can bring.
What lights me up.
When I am not coaching ADHD legends, I am usually following whatever lights me up (hello 3/5 Generator in Human Design). I love going to the beach and being in water is my happy place. Waterskiing, wakesurfing, camping and anything out in nature is the way to my heart. I love reading and learning (even though I don’t remember much/cant focus on reading all too well). I am a personal development enthusiast and love diving into all things manifestation, spirituality, mindset, business and astrology.
My mission is to empower people with ADHD to start working WITH their brain, rather than against it.
Embrace the realisation that you're not broken - far from it.
Your path simply demands the integration of ADHD-friendly strategies, purposeful systems, and a generous dose of self-compassion. These elements not only support your journey with ADHD but empower you to live life on your terms. It's about understanding and embracing your neurodiversity, casting aside shame and guilt.
Say goodbye to overwhelm and hello to a more empowered, confident you.
